Exam Pattern

NEET is a 3-hour, 200-question paper covering Physics (50 questions), Chemistry (50 questions), and Biology (100 questions). Each correct answer earns 4 marks; each wrong answer deducts 1 mark. The maximum score is 720.

Score vs. College Expectations

A score of 650+ opens doors to top government medical colleges including AIIMS and JIPMER. 550–650 is the range for good government colleges in most states. 450–550 covers private medical colleges with reasonable fees. Below 450, options become limited and fees at private colleges can be very high.

State Quota vs. All India Quota

85% of government medical college seats are filled through state quota counselling. 15% go through All India Quota. Your domicile state matters significantly for government college admissions.

If You Don't Get the Score You Wanted

Consider BDS (dentistry), BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homeopathy), B.Sc Nursing, or B.Pharm as strong alternative careers in healthcare. Many of these have excellent career prospects and are accessible with lower NEET scores.
